One of my favourite type of shoots! I love capturing families together and my personal preference for a family shoot is to get outside and capture my families just doing what they do best, being a family and enjoying each others company.
We’ll generally go for a bit of a walk at our location and have a bit of fun along the way. Whilst we'll have a few posed shots here and there, my favourite shots nearly always tend to be those ones in-between when those seemingly ordinary moments capture the special relationships within your family.
Outdoor shoots are also perfect for toddler age when studio shoots can be a little challenging! Attention spans can be short in the studio environment and outside we can capture the true spirit of your child - serious, shy, funny, mischievous by just watching them play.
I use lots of local country parks and am really happy to travel up to 25 minutes at no extra cost if you have a particular location in mind. I love seeking out new venues!
Don't worry too much about the weather either - I shoot all year round (although Jan - March can be a little dreary) Cloudy days are literally a photographers dream and make for very flattering photos. We do of course reschedule or have a back up plan if it's raining but even a few rainy shots with some cute umbrellas can be lots of fun.
The best time of day to shoot is generally the photographers favourite “golden hour” an hour or so before sunset if the weather is looking nice. The availability for these sessions won’t show on my booking page so give me a shout but I can do these on lots of week nights.
However I also appreciate, especially with young children that evening sessions just don’t work so first thing in the morning before it gets too bright works perfectly as well.
