I’ve been photographing families since 2016, my studio is at my home in Billericay, Essex. It’s all self-contained, with it’s own entrance so no need to be traipsing through piles of my laundry and washing up when you come to see me.
I love capturing connection (it’s my thing). Whether it’s a mum and her newborn baby, or chasing children around local beauty spots. What I love the most during my shoots is to just chat away, getting to know you whilst being silly with the children, and it's those moments where we’re just having fun that I’ll click the shutter button because it’s those seconds where everyone is just being themselves that I can stop time for people and capture that relationship in an image and that to me is priceless.
I do direct a little in my shoots, I see it as my job - I will move us to most flattering light if we’re outdoors. I’ll help you stand/sit etc in the most flattering way because I want you to love your photos, not only of your children but of yourselves and I will help connect you all as a family in your image, which might mean you all actually touch each other to make it look like you all like each other ha ha (don’t worry it’s just for a few minutes if that makes you go all funny!)
What I promise you, is that it won’t feel awkward or posey and it’s always also a fine balance if we have young children in the shoot as I’ll focus more on capturing their personalities rather than always trying to get us into the perfect location or expecting them to stand still. My aim with my dad’s (who are 90% of the time dragged along, am I right ladies?) is that they leave my sessions thinking actually that wasn’t too bad and they may be surprised to discover that they actually quite enjoyed it.
For my mums and mums to be - I love to get you in the photos because I know you only appear in the family photos when you take the selfies and they are lovely but I want you in front of the camera because in 30 years or so those images will be absolutely priceless to both you and your children.
I work every day during the week within school hours and I also work weekends - weekends do tend to get booked up around 6-8 weeks in advance so if you need a weekend session to try to get booked in well in advance.
